Despite the weather conditions, there were a sea of runners gathered around in remembrance of a local hero, who selflessly gave her life for the freedom of others. The rain and grey skies couldn’t dampen the spirits of the Wheels4change team and the other participants that came out to honor Ashley White, at the 6th annual Ashley White-Hot 5k, on April 29, 2017.
The following weekend, Saturday, May 6, the March of Babies walk took place in Akron, at Lock 3. The Wheels4change team and many others came out to help celebrate, bring hope, and also remember the babies whose lives were lost. Yet again, the weather didn’t prevent the community from supporting such a wonderful cause.
It is wonderful to watch so many families, friends, and participants come together to honor a hero like Ashley. To see the community unite to not only remember the babies whose lives were lost, but to also help improve the health of babies. Each event brought peace, as individuals were able to put aside their differences, to make a difference in the lives of others.
On May 20, 2017, at 8:00 am, the HAMMY workout and AdvoCare 5k will take place at the Kent State Field House. This event is in memory of Adam S. Hamilton, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2011. (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2017-hammy-workoutadvocare-5k-tickets-32508787659?aff=ehomecard)
